Valsesia is primarily a land for excursionists. The opportunities offered by all its valleys are infinite and summertime is the best period to enjoy mountain nature trails, even those lasting days.
And if a hike in the mountains lasts for at least two days, as do the splendid GTA (Great Alpine Crossing) long-distance hikes, or if it simply favours the delight of admiring unforgettable sunrises and sunsets, it ceases to be called a simple excursion and becomes a trek.
Trekking may be defined as an activity based on walking through territorial lands that vary in altitude and geological character; from level plains to steep slopes set in picturesque surroundings.
Trekking enthusiasts share a love for nature. The environment must not be contaminated, silence is relished, waste is not abandoned and uncontrolled fires are not to be lit.
This is due respect for the environment that hosts the visitor — the courteous and intelligent explorer who must not forget map, compass, knife, abundant water, mobile phone, helmet… as the trek presents its varying challenges.
The trekking enthusiast exploring the higher grounds and slopes of these mountain territories must bear in mind the notions mentioned above; the rest will be provided by nature and the Valsesian landscape!
